New Magazine ~ Weddings By The Ritz-Carlton…

leave a comment »

 …Puttin’ On Da Ritz!

When my husband and I got married 6 years ago, we were blessed and lucky to receive our honeymoon at The Ritz-Carlton Chicago as a gift.   Walking into the hotel, fully dressed in my wedding gown and the hubby in his tux, it was an amazing experience we’ll never forget!  We were treated like royalty – our entire stay!  Literally.

Every person working at The Ritz treated us like gold, even remembering our names and greeting us the entire stay.  Seriously – how did they remember our names like that?  Every single person in that hotel from the concierge, the front desk, the bell guy, the elevator guy, wait staff – greeted us with, “Hello, Mr. & Mrs. H.!”.  We weren’t wearing name tags.  They just knew who we were somehow.  I still don’t understand how.

Our stay there was magical.  Breathtakingly beautiful and so much more.  If you’d like to read more about our stay, click HERE.  Even if you don’t go there for your wedding or honeymoon, if you just stay there for one night, at least once in your life – the experience is worth it.  I can’t explain it…it just is.  You’ll understand if you go!

I love The Ritz-Carlton hotel chain for so many fabulous reasons, but this next reason tops the cake!  Did you know that they have also started  A Vow to Help Others program?  “When you book your wedding to be held prior to December 31, 2010, The Ritz-Carlton will donate five percent of the food revenue to The Ritz-Carlton Community Footprints Fund and the charity of your choice.” – The Ritz-Carlton

Now that’s fab.

As if their hotel ambiance, impeccable service and giving back to the community wasn’t enough, The Ritz Carlton has now decided to also come out with a wedding magazine to help couples plan for their wedding.  Yes, it’s true…

“This June, Weddings by The Ritz-Carlton will become a biannual magazine distributed in guest rooms of the 70-plus Ritz-Carlton properties worldwide and to all brides- and grooms-to-be who inquire about weddings and honeymoon packages at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C.

By bringing together writers, illustrators and photographers from around the world, Weddings by The Ritz-Carlton will be a new type of bridal magazine that inspires and delights readers the world-over with insights into the trends and traditions of a signature Ritz-Carlton wedding, as well as elements of designing the ultimate wedding experience including rings, gowns and ideas for making the celebration and honeymoon unforgettable.

‘The Ritz-Carlton sets the standard for once-in-a-lifetime occasions and our magazine is fashioned to do the same,’ said Julia Gajcak, vice president of marketing and communications at The Ritz-Carlton.” – via Press Release

Who’s excited?  You know I can’t wait to get my first copy of the magazine…and as soon as I do, darling dearests, I’ll be sure to share it with you.  Cheers and happy planning!

Introducing Ashley Kohler Events in CA…

with 6 comments

…Just In Time For Your Wedding Planning Needs!

The beautiful Ashley of Bride Sophisticate has officially launched her new website and event planning company at Ashley Kohler Events!  Take at these breathtaking photos from her own wedding…it turned out to be such an incredible day!

To dazzle up her invitations, she applied rhinestone buttons.  For the favor boxes, she bought the white gable boxes, card stock and LCI paper, cut to size and printed the names.  She secured each piece to the box with double stick tape and tied the top with brown satin ribbon!  For the tent escort cards, she applied a wax “K” seal to the front for that little extra touch…

For her elegant wedding held at Chateau Felice, Ashley wore a brilliant dress by designer Augusta Jones.  Lucky for her, her mom owned a bridal salon so they were able to work directly with the designer to create exactly what she wanted!  The very pretty bridesmaids’ dresses were by After Six and the junior bridesmaids’ from Little Flowers.  The guys sported tuxes by Calvin Klein from Tuxedo Den

The day of, she had her makeup applied by artist Trisha O’Connor who was not only talented, according to Ashley, but beyond sweet as well!  Brides, if you’re considering Trisha O’Connor for your wedding day, you can reach her at #(707)-545-8252 or #(707)-490-9923.

DJ and guitarist, Spencer Sutherland of Sutherland Entertainment, played beautiful guitar during the ceremony.  The couple also had a butterfly release…how romantic!

Ashley mentioned that their DJ orchestrated their grand entrance into the reception with class and managed to keep the guests happy and dancing all night long.  She was very pleased working with him as he was always prompt with return emails and had a nice calm attitude with everything.

Brides, I cannot express to you how important it is to interview your vendors to make sure they’re the right fit for you!

“Chateau Felice had this beautiful structure on their veranda, all it needed to make it romantic were a few billowing drapes and hanging crystals to catch the light.  Each bridesmaid put their bouquets in these urns on the head table. Instant centerpieces!” – Ashley

“The drive of Chateau Felice…”

Wow, what an awe-inspiring, perfect day!

After planning her own drop-dead-gorgeous, spectacular wedding down to the very last detail, Ashley realized she wanted to use her skills, talent and connections to help other brides plan their weddings.  Serving the Northern California area, she’s also willing to travel!

Interested in hiring Ashley to help plan your wedding?

Per Ashley, the FIRST FIVE BRIDES to email her and mention that they found her via my blog, “It’s A Jaime Thing”, will receive $100 off their total bride package (i.e., either her DOC package or full wedding package so as not to be confused with getting $100 off an a la carte item)!  Just email her at:  bridesophisticate{at}gmail{dot}com.

Brides, to see more from her wedding along with details about it including vendor information, visit her blog at Bride Sophisticate, her bio at Project Wedding and be sure to also visit her new website at to contact her about planning your own wedding!  Hurry up, she’s already booking fast…check her calendar to see if your date is booked or not.  Cheers!

Stop What You’re Doing & Send Him A Love Note…

leave a comment »

…It’s Important.  Plus, He’ll Love It!

Ah, yes…the anticipation of your wedding day!  The countdown.  Meeting with vendors.  Watching movie marathons and eating Ramen Noodles for two years so you can save and put aside money to pay for your wedding.  Emotional break downs.  Planning.  More planning.  Breaking down in the middle of it all and buying a new TV because you figure you’ve earned it, it’s cheaper than most vendors and it’s keeping your sanity

But there’s more!  Signing contracts.  Downloading and listening to hours upon hours of music trying to decide on songs.  Adding spaghetti sauce to your Ramen Noodles thinking it’ll make them taste better because you’re sick of eating them already, but they’re cheap so you eat them anyway.  Making flower choices.  Changing your flower choices.  Smiling and jumping up and down because finally, finally one of your favorite vendors decided to give you a break in the form of a discount.  Finding those perfect pair of shoes.

Up, down, up, down, up, down!  Yep, you’re engaged and you’ve got wedding planning fever.  Some days are exciting, other days are stressful.  In the middle of it all though, don’t forget to remind yourselves what’s really important…the fact that you’re marrying your true love

So take some time out of your busy wedding planning days to send a love note love note to your soon-to-be-husband.  Reminding him it’s all worth it…because he’s worth it.  Reminding him that while you probably shouldn’t have splurged on that TV, it was indeed, a good idea in the end.  Now you can use it to cuddle up and watch romantic movies together…or, if you must, a good ol’ action flick.

While you’re at it, you could also send your bridesmaids and family a love note!  Remind everyone you love.  Visit the Unique Art Pendants shop at Etsy to view more and get your love notes ordered.  They will even arrive in an adorable little gift box.  Enjoy!
