DIY Wedding: Paper Decor Ideas…

with 2 comments

…Bam!  Just Like That?

Stuck?  Me too.  I haven’t finalized my sister’s shower decor details yet.  I want to get crafty but I’m overwhelmed with ideas.  Funny how one day, you’ve got nothing and the next day, your inspiration just flies through the door and knocks you over like a big gust of wind!  Graceful, I am not.  It’s ok, I’m back from falling off my chair to share these ideas with you…

This is just some of the inspiration that flew through my door and into my lap!  Many of the items shown above are ones you can actually purchase if you wish to (I mean, maybe you’re just too busy to get crafty, right?  I hear ya!).  However, I bet if you looked closely enough you could find a way to create these beautiful decor pieces yourself.  All you need is some creativity, patience, time and paper.  Ok fine, maybe just a few other supplies too.

To see how to either purchase or create these items, click on the links below the pictures.  If you need help along the way, just shout!  I’m only a few keys away…we can try to figure it out together.  You know, get our “creative juices” flowing.  Good luck!

A Traveling Shower…

with one comment

…For The Travel Loving Couple!

If your favorite couple is getting hitched and they’re lovers of not only each other but of travel as well, get creative and throw them a travel themed shower!  Instead of your typical shower invitation, send actual postcards to guests.  Write something clever or cute, such as, “Please join us in helping the couple travel their way into a happy marriage”.  Below are a few of my other ideas…

Think about using these lovely and inexpensive paper suitcases designed by Chicago’s own, Nicole Balch, of Pink Loves Brown for your decor needs!

Decorate the gift table with one paper suitcase each side, open up and use to display postcards from around the world, love letters, or pictures from the couples’ past vacations.  Maybe even visit a vintage store to purchase an old unworking camera to place inside.  Or, perhaps you could get funky and use the larger suitcase as a cake stand.  Now that’s fun!

Ask the bridesmaids to get together to help you make little paper airplanes to hang from the ceiling.  Or, for a more subtle touch think about making even smaller paper airplanes to stick into flower centerpieces!  Looking for affordable favors?  What if you printed out or designed luggage tags with some cute travel themed cardstock?  For fun you could throw paper airplanes at each other.  Just kidding.

After the shower is over, give the paper suitcases to the bride or away to a couple of guests to use as cool storage or home decor.  Thrifty!  What other ideas do you have for a travel themed shower?  Comment away, I’d love to hear.  As for now, be sure to visit Nicole’s blog, Making It Lovely, and shop Pink Loves Brown for even more beautiful inspiration.  Happy planning!

…With Lovely Little Things!

I’m dreaming of a White Christmas right now, but soon it’ll be my birthday and also something else exciting!  Come January 17th, when I turn the big 30 twenty-ten, artist Elsa Mora will be reopening her Etsy shop.  What a great birthday surprise!  I’m hoping she’ll share some of her gorgeous jewelry and paper cutting artwork, such as the work shown below, in her upcoming shop…

Do Not Disturb Signs…

…For Wedding Guests The Morning After!

This past weekend my husband and I attended my cousin’s amazingly beautiful wedding.  Once I get all of the pictures uploaded I will definitely post them for you to see.

As for now, take a look at the “Do Not Disburbsigns we created for their guests who stayed at the hotel after the wedding was over…aren’t they fun?!  I’m sure the guests enjoyed being able to sleep in the morning after

The inspiration to create these originally came from one of my earlier posts which you can find HERE!  The ones we made were designed by the very creative Denise of Bellis Studios, to match the theme from the invitations (which she also designed).  Thanks to my sister for helping me put them together!

…Time To Get Out That Little Black Dress!

Classy meets sassy in these fun bachelorette/bridal shower invites created by Jen over at CraftyLilMomma!  I love all of the details, right down to the jewels!  To see the coordinating dress code insert, gift tags and thank you cards, click HERE

Jen also created a different style invite using the same theme.

Imagine how exciting it would be to decorate, using fake pearl strands and jewels with black and tiffany-blue colors?  Tie tiffany-blue boxes with white ribbon for the favor boxes, ask all of the girls to wear their “little black dresses“!  Love, love, love it!!!

How it looks in the folder…

To purchase these or see more of her work, check out her fabulous and oh-so-crafty shop at www.craftylilmomma.com.  Great job, Jen!
