…Pina’s Culinary Experience, Where We Hosted My Sister’s Bridal Shower!
For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been sharing with you all of the little details from the bridal shower my sister and I recently hosted for our little sister. Now I’ve saved the last post on the shower to share the venue details, Pina’s Culinary Experience in Roselle, IL.! If you’re looking for a place to host your intimate wedding, shower or event, Pina’s is wonderful – I highly recommend them!
From the minute we found this place, we knew it would be perfect. This charming little spot has only been open for about 2 years but has become quite popular…and I can see why! The service is top-notch, the menu is affordable and the chefs there are so great to work with. No, I really mean it – if you host your event there, you’ll end up wanting to hug them (I actually did)!
Pina’s Culinary Experience in Roselle, IL.
The venue offers tasty and delightful cooking classes and also can be used to host private events. There are two rooms, the Mediterranean style room in the front (shown on their website) and the larger room on the side, which is the room we hosted the bridal shower in.
The larger room is newly remodeled with a lovely contemporary feel! Supporting local artists by hanging their gorgeous artwork on the walls, Pina’s is not only attractive inside but very into helping the community as well. They’re just really good people!
I still can’t believe how affordable it was to have the shower at Pina’s. Can you believe it was even less expensive than hosting it at an “affordable” restaurant?! I researched so many places before we found Pina’s and I’m so thrilled with our decision to have the shower there. Not to mention the fact that we had our own private room and our own personal gourmet chef!
Chef Edward was extremely accommodating with helping us plan for the shower and allowing us to decorate however we wanted. He even helped us decorate…hanging the tissue flower poms we made, the banner I created and more. He came to the rescue with a few things I had forgotten about too…like the candy for my “P-A-R-T-Y” dishes and the music for the shower. What a guy!
He also let us come in and set up a couple of days early, so that it would be easier on us the morning of the shower. By the time the guests arrived, everything was set in place and ready to go. My, did it look beautiful!!!
Everything was perfect – the atmosphere, the service, the food. Oh, that food…so yummy! Dessert was fabulous too…he created for us fresh individual cherry cheesecakes, chocolate-covered strawberries and one very tasty cake!

So darlings…if you’re on the hunt for that perfect Chicagoland venue for your intimate event, you must give Pina’s Culinary Experience a try. Let gourmet chefs Edward and Pina help you plan a menu that will rock your tastebuds and fit your budget. Tell them I sent you. You won’t be disappointed!
Not planning a party but want to learn how to cook? Let Pina’s welcome you into their kitchen where you’ll learn to cook delicious meals from a gourmet chef, maybe have some cocktails, listen to music and just have a good ol’ time.

More From My Sister’s Bridal Shower…
Looking for ideas to quench any bridal thirst? For the bridal shower we recently hosted for my sister, we decided to have a little fun with the cocktails and beverages by dressing them up a bit!
Take a look…
(Majority of photos thanks to Denise Johnson of Bellis Studios)
Previously, I showed you the fabulous customized Jones Soda bottles we served. Well, as if they weren’t adorable enough, we also decorated straws with white paper confetti flowers for guests to drink with! I cannot take all of the credit for that idea, however – as the crafty ladies over at Prim & Pixie originally inspired me to create with images of their butterfly straws. It seemed like an easy enough DIY project, so you know I had to do it!
Beverages also included a pink grapefruit champagne punch and a bowl of mimosas. Flutes were rimmed with pink sugar and filled with cotton candy, which dissolved as guests poured their punch ~ for a little added sweetness! We also created pink and orange beaded wine charms for each flute glass, with a heart-shaped charm in the middle that said, “LOVE”.
…Added Personalization & Pops Of Color To My Sister’s Bridal Shower!
Like the song by Counting Crows goes, “Pass me a bottle, Mr. Jones…believe in me, help me believe in anything, I want to be someone…who believes…yeah…”, Mr. Jones did help me believe – in drinking really good soda.
Yes, Mr. Jones helped me believe in everything pink, orange, yummy and fabulous! With customized Jones Soda bottles in Fufu Berry, Orange & Cream and Cream Soda for the guests, it was indeed a sweet, refreshing treat!

I love that Jones Soda allows you the option to customize your bottles. It’s pretty simple – you just upload a photo, type in what you’d like the front of the label to say, then you type in what you’d like the back to say.
For my sister’s bridal shower, we put, “How sweet it is to be loved by you!” on the front, then the back of the label said, “It started with a kiss, so let us toast to this ~ sweet dreams and best wishes to the soon-to-be Mr. & Mrs! Brock & Lindsay 2009”.

Everyone was so excited to receive their own personalized bottle of Jones Soda, they had never seen anything like it! I have to admit, they were pretty darn cool. The pretty packaging definitely sold me at first, but the delicious taste is quite impressive too. Everyone loved it!

I’m not normally a big “pop” drinker, but after the shower was over and the soda was gone, I ran to my local Super Target to pick up some more. I had to stock some of that yummy stuff in my own fridge! Of course, I also kept one of the customized bottles from the shower as a little keepsake after I drank it, so it’s now proudly displayed in our kitchen! I know, I’m a sentimental pack rat.
If you love Jones Soda as much as I do or perhaps have never even tried it, you’re in for a treat, my friends! Just visit www.jonessoda.com to find store locations or to customize your own bottles for your shower, wedding or other event. They even offer a Jones Soda Weddings page filled with inspiration! Cheers and enjoy…I know you will!

…With Cupcake Bath Bomb Favors By Bubbles & Beauties!
This past weekend, my sister and I hosted a bridal shower for our little sister. Now that it’s over, I can’t wait to start sharing all of the details with you!
(Photo from the shower, thanks to Denise Johnson of Bellis Studios)
Nikol Johnson, creator and founder of Bubbles & Beauties, is seriously just as sweet as her cupcakes! She actually customized each one for us, in the bridal shower colors and also in my sister’s favorite Pink Sugar scent. She really made them so special, I can’t thank her enough!
When we received our shipment of cupcake bath bombs, they smelled soooo good, but since they looked like actual real cupcakes, I wanted to eat one! Fear not my fine feathered friends, I refrained from eating the favors. I was so happy with the great quality though, not to mention the ingredients ~ including mango butter, almond oil, French clay and natural salts. Yes, it sounded quite heavenly!

I knew I had a couple “regrets” as rsvp’s, so I was sneaky (ssshh) and took one of the favors into the tub with me, tried it and experienced my own soothing bath – which after all the planning, was definitely in order! Aaahh yes…life was good. Hey, a girl’s gotta pamper herself once in a while, right?
These cupcake bath bombs were a huge hit at the shower. Everyone loved them! I’m very pleased we decided to give them out. If you’re looking for bridal shower favors sure to impress, these definitely did the job. Actually, I think these would also make luscious little bridesmaids gifts as well- or a great gift for any occasion, for that matter!
They come hand-made in several different colors and scents, all ready to spoil you! A few of my personal favorites aside from the Pink Sugar include Fresh Lavender, Lime Cooler, Apple Mango, Chocolate Indulgence, Honey Almond, Strawberries & Champagne, Lemongrass & Sage and Coconut & Cream. But they’re all so tempting!
Keep checking back, I’ll be posting more pictures and details from the bridal shower this week…yay!

…This Bride’s Wedding Style Is Jammin’!
Recently, Courtney contacted me looking for some Caribbean themed wedding inspiration, so I’ve decided to share my findings. Brides, if you’re planning a similar wedding, grab yourself a margarita, sit back and enjoy some island inspiration! In this first board, I put together some of the photos she emailed me…
(Images emailed to me by Courtney . If one of these images is yours, please let me know and I will gladly credit you.)
On her blog, she writes:
“An afternoon/evening sipping tropical cocktails and nibbling tasty Caribbean delights! The mood is enthusiastic among the varieties of orange and red flowers both in the garden and under the tent…the sun sets and the flowers glow even more radiantly than before. There is a tranquil blue that contrasts with the abundance of the fiery orange decor…calming our senses…the perfect combination.” ~ Wow. Sounds amazing, Courtney!
Check out part of her awesome save-the-dates, which she created herself! So cool. Her colors are a very vibrant red-orange and navy blue…love it! I love her entire theme…which is why I couldn’t help but create a few boards…
Below, I’ve featured some unique ideas for festive decor, drinks and more. Consider serving Red Stripe (Jamaican beer), pineapple martinis and creative drinks to add a little bit of Caribbean flair! Why not take it a step further and apply the Red Stripe labels over glass votives? Just take the labels off the bottles by placing them in hot soapy water. Once it’s soaked for a bit, gently peel back the label. You can then Modge Podge it to your glass candle holder!
Hang placecards from flowers elegantly hung with string! Or, use small wooden ladders decorated with big, bright paper flowers for a Caribbean market feel. Hang brightly colored party lights all around to set the mood, along with candlelight. Adorn your cake with tropical flowers and use baby pineapples for the place settings…

Courtney was hoping to somehow turn her pink pineapples into centerpieces. Ideas? Carve the centers out of your pineapples and place a tealight inside. You could also cut the tops off and scoop out the center to make room for a pillar candle. Or, simply line them down the middle of the table with votives and rocks all around the bases. Another bride offered her pineapple palm tree idea on Twitter…what a sweetie!
For her bridesmaids’ bouquets, she has chosen pincushion proteas, ginger, red-orange dahlias and red-orange ranunculas. Bride on a budget? Choose more affordable flowers for the tables. Find out which ones are local and in season, to help you save big by clicking HERE.

One last thing I can’t help but share…pineapple shaped cookies! I’m all about the cookies! Did I mention I love cookies? Ok, sorry…I know, going a little cookie crazy here but how sweet would these be as favors for guests? I especially love that palm basket weave box. Too adorable…
(Cookies from www.honolulucookie.com)
Hope that helps, Courtney! Happy planning my dear…I’m off to go dream about pineapple cookies and becoming a local on some fabulous island…husband in hand, of course. Cheers!
It Started With A Kiss, So Let Us Toast To This…
The date is nearing for my little sister’s upcoming bridal shower. My other sister and I are planning the event and we have changed our minds from a vintage cherry theme to this, since we decided it’s a little more “her”…

Luscious pinks and vibrant oranges will set the tone for the day, since she loves bright, bold colors. Decor will consist of gerbera daisies, candles and a few other surprises. Instead of a champagne toast, we’ll be toasting with yummy mimosas!
The creative juices are flowing, I just can’t wait! Be sure to stay tuned for pictures…cheers!
