Introducing Ashley Kohler Events in CA…

…Just In Time For Your Wedding Planning Needs!

The beautiful Ashley of Bride Sophisticate has officially launched her new website and event planning company at Ashley Kohler Events!  Take at these breathtaking photos from her own wedding…it turned out to be such an incredible day!

To dazzle up her invitations, she applied rhinestone buttons.  For the favor boxes, she bought the white gable boxes, card stock and LCI paper, cut to size and printed the names.  She secured each piece to the box with double stick tape and tied the top with brown satin ribbon!  For the tent escort cards, she applied a wax “K” seal to the front for that little extra touch…

For her elegant wedding held at Chateau Felice, Ashley wore a brilliant dress by designer Augusta Jones.  Lucky for her, her mom owned a bridal salon so they were able to work directly with the designer to create exactly what she wanted!  The very pretty bridesmaids’ dresses were by After Six and the junior bridesmaids’ from Little Flowers.  The guys sported tuxes by Calvin Klein from Tuxedo Den

The day of, she had her makeup applied by artist Trisha O’Connor who was not only talented, according to Ashley, but beyond sweet as well!  Brides, if you’re considering Trisha O’Connor for your wedding day, you can reach her at #(707)-545-8252 or #(707)-490-9923.

DJ and guitarist, Spencer Sutherland of Sutherland Entertainment, played beautiful guitar during the ceremony.  The couple also had a butterfly release…how romantic!

Ashley mentioned that their DJ orchestrated their grand entrance into the reception with class and managed to keep the guests happy and dancing all night long.  She was very pleased working with him as he was always prompt with return emails and had a nice calm attitude with everything.

Brides, I cannot express to you how important it is to interview your vendors to make sure they’re the right fit for you!

“Chateau Felice had this beautiful structure on their veranda, all it needed to make it romantic were a few billowing drapes and hanging crystals to catch the light.  Each bridesmaid put their bouquets in these urns on the head table. Instant centerpieces!” – Ashley

“The drive of Chateau Felice…”

Wow, what an awe-inspiring, perfect day!

After planning her own drop-dead-gorgeous, spectacular wedding down to the very last detail, Ashley realized she wanted to use her skills, talent and connections to help other brides plan their weddings.  Serving the Northern California area, she’s also willing to travel!

Interested in hiring Ashley to help plan your wedding?

Per Ashley, the FIRST FIVE BRIDES to email her and mention that they found her via my blog, “It’s A Jaime Thing”, will receive $100 off their total bride package (i.e., either her DOC package or full wedding package so as not to be confused with getting $100 off an a la carte item)!  Just email her at:  bridesophisticate{at}gmail{dot}com.

Brides, to see more from her wedding along with details about it including vendor information, visit her blog at Bride Sophisticate, her bio at Project Wedding and be sure to also visit her new website at to contact her about planning your own wedding!  Hurry up, she’s already booking fast…check her calendar to see if your date is booked or not.  Cheers!

A Traveling Shower…

with one comment

…For The Travel Loving Couple!

If your favorite couple is getting hitched and they’re lovers of not only each other but of travel as well, get creative and throw them a travel themed shower!  Instead of your typical shower invitation, send actual postcards to guests.  Write something clever or cute, such as, “Please join us in helping the couple travel their way into a happy marriage”.  Below are a few of my other ideas…

Think about using these lovely and inexpensive paper suitcases designed by Chicago’s own, Nicole Balch, of Pink Loves Brown for your decor needs!

Decorate the gift table with one paper suitcase each side, open up and use to display postcards from around the world, love letters, or pictures from the couples’ past vacations.  Maybe even visit a vintage store to purchase an old unworking camera to place inside.  Or, perhaps you could get funky and use the larger suitcase as a cake stand.  Now that’s fun!

Ask the bridesmaids to get together to help you make little paper airplanes to hang from the ceiling.  Or, for a more subtle touch think about making even smaller paper airplanes to stick into flower centerpieces!  Looking for affordable favors?  What if you printed out or designed luggage tags with some cute travel themed cardstock?  For fun you could throw paper airplanes at each other.  Just kidding.

After the shower is over, give the paper suitcases to the bride or away to a couple of guests to use as cool storage or home decor.  Thrifty!  What other ideas do you have for a travel themed shower?  Comment away, I’d love to hear.  As for now, be sure to visit Nicole’s blog, Making It Lovely, and shop Pink Loves Brown for even more beautiful inspiration.  Happy planning!

Budget Friendly Holiday Tablescape Ideas…

…Stylish Decor ~ Get The Look!

‘Tis the season to be jolly and entertain.  Whether you’re planning a winter wedding, holiday party or an intimate holiday dinner, get inspired with these beautiful ideas from Pottery Barn!

On a tight budget?  Simple use of branches, pine cones and pure white candles can help you mimic this look.  Want that frosted touch?  Take your items outside and spray paint them with metallic paint to finish off that wintry feel

To get the look shown below on a budget, pick up some tall glass vases and round frosted votive holders from your local craft store or dollar store.  Fill them with small red round ornaments and limes.  Use plastic martini glasses and small plastic cocktail glasses in complimentary colors which you can also find at many dollar stores or party stores

Or, just head on over to Pottery Barn where you can find all of these items!  Also, check out their sister store, West Elm, for more affordable entertaining and decor ideas.  Happy holidays and happy planning!
