…A Cocktail Reception Inspired By The Chocolate Martini!

This week, Polka Dot Bride featured an awesome inspiration board for a wedding inspired by the chocolate martini.  You know I’m all about chocolate martinis (it’s one of my favorite cocktails!), so I couldn’t help but share her creativity

Head on over to Polka Dot Bride right now to find even more ideas and inspiration for this yummy event…do so by clicking  HERE

This would be a great theme for any wedding, especially one set in the Fall or Winter to warm and cozy things up a bit.  Besides, who doesn’t love a chocolate martini, right?

Sometimes, I swear it would be a more peaceful world if everyone indulged in chocolate from time to time.  So go ahead – indulge in some chocolate.  Of course, drink responsibly!  Cheers!

Introducing Ashley Kohler Events in CA…

with 6 comments

…Just In Time For Your Wedding Planning Needs!

The beautiful Ashley of Bride Sophisticate has officially launched her new website and event planning company at Ashley Kohler Events!  Take at these breathtaking photos from her own wedding…it turned out to be such an incredible day!

To dazzle up her invitations, she applied rhinestone buttons.  For the favor boxes, she bought the white gable boxes, card stock and LCI paper, cut to size and printed the names.  She secured each piece to the box with double stick tape and tied the top with brown satin ribbon!  For the tent escort cards, she applied a wax “K” seal to the front for that little extra touch…

For her elegant wedding held at Chateau Felice, Ashley wore a brilliant dress by designer Augusta Jones.  Lucky for her, her mom owned a bridal salon so they were able to work directly with the designer to create exactly what she wanted!  The very pretty bridesmaids’ dresses were by After Six and the junior bridesmaids’ from Little Flowers.  The guys sported tuxes by Calvin Klein from Tuxedo Den

The day of, she had her makeup applied by artist Trisha O’Connor who was not only talented, according to Ashley, but beyond sweet as well!  Brides, if you’re considering Trisha O’Connor for your wedding day, you can reach her at #(707)-545-8252 or #(707)-490-9923.

DJ and guitarist, Spencer Sutherland of Sutherland Entertainment, played beautiful guitar during the ceremony.  The couple also had a butterfly release…how romantic!

Ashley mentioned that their DJ orchestrated their grand entrance into the reception with class and managed to keep the guests happy and dancing all night long.  She was very pleased working with him as he was always prompt with return emails and had a nice calm attitude with everything.

Brides, I cannot express to you how important it is to interview your vendors to make sure they’re the right fit for you!

“Chateau Felice had this beautiful structure on their veranda, all it needed to make it romantic were a few billowing drapes and hanging crystals to catch the light.  Each bridesmaid put their bouquets in these urns on the head table. Instant centerpieces!” – Ashley

“The drive of Chateau Felice…”

Wow, what an awe-inspiring, perfect day!

After planning her own drop-dead-gorgeous, spectacular wedding down to the very last detail, Ashley realized she wanted to use her skills, talent and connections to help other brides plan their weddings.  Serving the Northern California area, she’s also willing to travel!

Interested in hiring Ashley to help plan your wedding?

Per Ashley, the FIRST FIVE BRIDES to email her and mention that they found her via my blog, “It’s A Jaime Thing”, will receive $100 off their total bride package (i.e., either her DOC package or full wedding package so as not to be confused with getting $100 off an a la carte item)!  Just email her at:  bridesophisticate{at}gmail{dot}com.

Brides, to see more from her wedding along with details about it including vendor information, visit her blog at Bride Sophisticate, her bio at Project Wedding and be sure to also visit her new website at to contact her about planning your own wedding!  Hurry up, she’s already booking fast…check her calendar to see if your date is booked or not.  Cheers!

…And Made A Delicious Color Combination To Look At!

Last Year, I challenged Lara over at Ready2Spark to create an inspiration board inspired by raspberries and chocolate since we both had those yummies on our brain that week.  This year on her blog, she’s featured her top 10 favorite boards, including this one I love from the challenge…

…For A Day Filled With Romance!

You’ve fallen in love.  Well, get ready to fall in love again, with these heavenly DIY ideas found at the Once Wed blog!

Natural Bling:

Rock candy and bows are what rocked this design from candy to dandy!  How else could you use this inspiration to decorate your event?  What other candy could you design with?  Like I mentioned in the previous post, what if you used feathers?  For a more colorful event, imagine stringing together skittles or lemon drops to hang.  Let the ideas flow!

Paper Garland

Coffee.  Love.  Coffee & love combined?  Pure delightfulness!  Yes, those are coffee filters & tissue paper turned into gorgeous garland.  I adore it!

A Wedding To Ruffle Your Feathers…

…And Make The Bride “Feel Like A Natural Woman…”

Ok fine, I’ll spare you from my lovely singing skills.  But I’ve been feeling the beauty of nature this week ever since Denise, from Bellis Studios, shared with me this easy and affordable DIY placecard idea she found over at Another Shade of Grey.  What’s a girl to do when she gets inspired?  Find even more ideas to compliment those pretty little feathers

(Photo credits:  Feather placecards from Another Shade of Grey, feather ribbon discovered at We Met In A Bar, middle board from Hostess With The Mostess, potpourri from Target, Shannon Britt shoes from Zappos.)

Do you love it?  I had to throw those gorgeous feather shoes in there for you…only because I love you, dear readers!  For a signature cocktail to compliment your nature theme, why not pour one on the rocks?  Get it?  Rocks?  Rocks are a part of nature?  No?  Ok, so my jokes are as bad as my singing, sorry.  But you’ve gotta give me credit for trying.  Happy planning!

Arm Candy Cake…For Your Bridesmaid Mommies!

with 5 comments

…Who Knew Wearing Cake Could Be Stylish?!

These “Cake” clutches from the Petunia Pickle Bottom collection at Neiman Marcus are so yummy looking, I simply adore them!  Anyone can rock this clutch, however did you know it was actually designed with mommies in mind?  Each wristlit comes with a hidden changing pad and inside pockets for bottle and cell phone

The “Cake” clutches come in Mocha Berry Cream, Chocolate Cherry Cake and Midnight Blackberry:

The collection also carries larger stylish “Cake” bags with a removable clutch top handle, adjustable backpack or shoulder straps, two side patch pockets and a removable changing pad

It comes in all of the “Cake” colors shown above, including one extra Raspberry!

I’ll be honest, these darling pieces of “Cake” would probably be a little out of my comfort price range, however if you’ve managed to save up some extra dough and feel like treating your mommy bridesmaids to some yummies, this would be an excellent way to do so.  Plus, it’s a gift they could always use, even after their darling kiddies grow up.

Want to see the entire collection of “Cake”?  Click HERE or head over to Neiman Marcus.  Cheers!
