This living room really makes me feel relaxed just looking at it. This decor is usually not my style, but it works so great in this room, doesn’t it?
Sometimes I wish I was more daring when it came to color. For some reason I find myself looking at more neutral, warm colors than I do bright and bold.
Whether you’re having a traditional wedding or celebrating in a modern way, you’re more than likely to follow at least some sort of tradition.
Whether it’s your first dance, carrying a bouquet, or having your bridesmaids dress all in one color, it’s tradition! I find it so interesting to learn the different traditions couples from across the globe are embracing.
Want to learn more? Curious to see how traditions started, or how couples with different nationalities and religions celebrate their love?
Have you ever looked through your parent’s or grandparent’swedding photos?
I’ve noticed that back then, weddings were always showcasing true love…whether it was a small ceremony with a backyard wedding, or a big sha-bang, weddings back then always had a sense of romance…no matter the color scheme, no matter the style, no matter where it was held.
It was a different time back then…couples married younger, and started families right away. How they did it I’ll never know, as I can’t imagine it was easy. But when you look back at their pictures, you find your answer.
They did it out of true unconditional, devoted love.
I think we can all get inspired by our elder’s weddings…back when people not only planned their weddings, they planned their marriages. Not saying people don’t do that today, but you notice the divorce rate being so high and you’ve gotta wonder why some couples marry to begin with. Communication, sacrifice, compromise, love, trust…so so so important.
To see more pictures of this “retro wedding”, go HERE!
There are so many differentstyle weddings these days. To name a few: classic, traditional, fun & flirty, madhatter, country, modern…and to add to the list, GOTH! This bride’s got style…she even designed her own dress!
I have never seen such beautiful gothic wedding pictures in my life, until I stumbled across these from Alazar Soiree. This ”Goth Wedding” was done so right that it could nearly kick Dita Von Tease off the map!
Many brides have been dreaming of their wedding day since they were a little girl. I know I did! So when you get engaged, not only is it exciting because you’re marrying the man of your dreams, but now you also get to plan your wedding.
You find yourself spending endless hours looking at flowers, dresses, figuring out the best “D.I.Y” (Do It Yourself) projects, and browsing ideas to borrow to make your wedding as dreamy as you can possibley make it. You become so busy researching, calling, and setting up vendor appointments that it almost feels like you’ve taken up another full time job!
Wedding planning…for some brides it’s fun, for some it’s not. But for many, when the wedding is over, you find yourself trying to remember what you did before all the planning took over. Now that there’s nothing to plan, how do you fill the void? Scrapbooking???
If you’re like me, you often try to share your blog with your friends and family. However, some just don’t understand what it is. They don’t understand what a blog is, or why I blog.
When I try to explain it to those who have never heard of blogging, the best way for me to describe it is, “It’s like a website, sort of an on-line diary, where I create and post articles about things I’m interested in, and want to share with others.”.
Some still don’t “get it”. Some do. Some get excited to read it and tell me I’m creative. Some tell me I have too much time on my hands…and that if I continue to blog, I’m going to get carpal tunnel. Some think it’s great I blog, others think I’m a computer dork. It’s ok, I enjoy blogging for me, and that’s all that matters. After all, “It’s A Jaime Thing!”, Not everyone will understand.
The way I look at it is this…I enjoy it. It’s free entertainment to me, which allows me to save money by not going out as often. It allows me to learn about things I’m interested in, such as wedding planning, ideas and inspiration from those who plan professionally. It stimulates my brain, but in a good way!
Blogging allows me to forget aboutstress. It allows me to create, therefore, to be creative. It forces me to work on my writing skills, so my posts are enjoyable to read. It also allows me to help friends plan their weddings, by finding unique ideas. Blogging puts me out into the world, where I get to enjoy networking with other bloggers with the same interests.
Still don’t get what “blogging” is? Check out this video from Ask The Blogger:
If you haven’t picked up your issue yet, go get it! Real Simple has officially published their first ever issue of Real Simple Weddings!
I just picked up the magazine for my sister the other day, and am hoping she finds it exciting and helpful. She’s getting married June 2009, so this arrived just in time as she’s starting her planning process!
This is not yourtypical wedding magazine. No, it’s more of a wedding guide or planner. It’s definitely more costly than other wedding magazines too…selling for $12.95! But it’s worth it, in my opinion, as it’s filled with tons of wonderful information.
The new movie, “27 Dresses” starring Katherine Heigl is officially out in theaters, so a group of friends decided to see the movie, wearing their old bridesmaids dresses, in honor of the hilarious quote from the movie, “You can shorten them and wear them again!”.
I love it. What a great idea! This is something fun we could all start doing…planning an annual event with friends to put to use our old bridesmaids dresses! Plus, it’s the perfect excuse to dress up. What fun!
Here are a couple of pictures of these fabulous ladies. To read the article about these crazy girls, and see more pictures, go to WGN News Bridesmaid Dress Story.
I was recently searching for ideas for my sister’s wedding coming up, and came across these adorable vases! I simply ADORE them!
What a great gift they would make for any teacher…even though apples are nice, and gift cards too…how cool would this be, and it’d be something your teacher could always have to cherish!
These vases would also make great centerpiece ideas for any teacher who’s getting married. Wow. I’m so excited I stumbled across this site! Too cool.
It’s so hard keeping up with the news when it comes to politics, isn’t it? Especially if you’re planning a wedding, working, and are exhausted at the end of the day. But what if you could find a website that allows you to read different candidate’s views on the same topics, easily, without having to read article after article?
It just took me a few minutes to read and learn after discovering this fabulous site, www.bridesdecide.com!
A sister site to The Knot, The Nest, and Wedding Channel, Brides Decide offers a great outlook on the 2008 Election and it’s candidates. Check it out, get informed, and get ready to vote with knowledge!
Make a statement. Make them say, “Wow!”. Make this!
Photography By: Jasmine Star. Wall hanging art by Tord Boontje, can be purchased HERE.
I recently came across this beautiful picture taken by photographer Jasmine Star.
I love this idea of using wall space to decorate your wedding…and even more so, I love the fact that I’m pretty sure one could easily re-create this look for their own wedding!
Time consuming it would be to make this, but indeed it could be done. Remember when you were little, and made snowflakes out of paper? All you had to do was fold the paper in half, and cut little corners and pieces out of it.
Why not do the same thing, only cut the shapes into flowers instead of snowflakes! Hang & tie them together with clear wire which can be found at any local craft store.
Wa-la! FABULOUS, CREATIVE and BEAUTIFUL decor for your wedding. Love it!
Wow. Well, been busy lately…but I’m in wedding heaven, that’s for sure! Not only is my sister getting married, so is my cousin, and my brother-in-law. So are several of my friends. All within the next year! I just saw the movie “27 Dresses“, it was fabulous…we should call my story ”27 Weddings“! lol
I am so excited, and have been having a blast helping them plan. It’s interesting to see everyone’s different ideas and tastes…and exciting when they ask me to “paint a picture” for them.
My other sister, who is not getting married yet, while helping the one who is getting married, asked me a question today. She asked, “What style wedding do you picture me having one day?”.
It was cool to share with her the picture in my head, and even cooler to hear that my ideas were very similar to what she had in mind! We never really discussed before what kind of wedding she would like someday…until tonight. However, we’ve got a few years until that one happens. Well, you never really know, I guess! We shall see!
So yes, busy planning I’ve been, but blogging I haven’t…so here we go!
Cake Toppers. To have, or not to have? That is the question! With all that’s out there, it’s hard to decide!
No longer are the days of tradition mandatory when it comes to anything wedding…today’s brides do what they love, and they do it in style!
While some may choose flowers as their topper over the bride & groom figurines, there are also ones like this elegant cake topper, from www.myjeanm.com.
Cake topper or no cake topper, as long as there’s cake, I’m in!
Update: Just found this hilarious cake topper from new blogger, Chic and Sophisticated Bride, perfect for the couple that loves to fish!
Ha ha…they really do have some cute and creative ones out there, don’t they?
Pink = Pretty! Well, I think so anyway. SO glam it up! Check out these lace platform sandals (yes, I’m a sucker for hot shoes!), by Bruno Frisoni.
Ok, so I actually found these a few months ago…and now of course it appears most stores that carried the shoe are sold out on them already. But it’s fine, considering they were super expensive anyway!
So since they’re more than I would spend on shoes, and sold out anyway, I thought up this idea, to get the look:
Why not get a hot pair of black platform sandals, and then take black lace & pink ribbon, wrap it from the bottom of your foot, tie it in a bow, THEN slip your foot into the sandal? I’ve seen it done…and it’s actually quite cute! And so much cheaper. What are your opinions on that idea?
No matter, these shoes remain such splendid eye candy…don’t they?
Just a note to let you all know I’m still here, and still plan on blogging more fun things! I’ve just been super busy (as you can probably tell) trying to redecorate our bedroom. After almost two weeks of obsessing over paint colors, I’ve finally decided upon one I love, and started to officially paint tonight! Yay!
It got scary…our walls started looking like a patchwork quilt, with all the different color patches…ha ha. I know I drove not only myself nuts, but my husband too, as I made him play the “process of elimination game” with paint chips each night. But fear not, we have chosen “Monroe Bisque” by Benjamin Moore, and we love it. I’ll be sure to post pictures up soon!
Thanks For Reading,
Jaime
Here’s a picture that shows the same paint color we used (it’s the color shown on the upper part of wall). Thanks to www.hgtv.com for the image!
In an earlier post, I introduced you to my friend Natalie, who is currently road-tripping it through the U.S. While on her way, she experienced black ice on the roads, with trucks out of control just inches away from her.
Click HERE to read her terrifying story of driving through the Rocky Mountains.
Read it, view thepictures, and take her advice: During the winter, opt to fly over the Rocky Mountains, never drive over them. This reminds all of us, mountains or no mountains, to play it safe while driving this winter…and stay out of the way of trucks! And of course, wear your seatbelt, and say your prayers!
Thanks for sharing your experience, Natalie! Best of luck on the rest of your trip!
Exciting news! The team over at Sugar Inc. has just launched a new category, introducting Citizen Sugar!

Ok…room progress? Not so much. I zoomed in, to make it look as if the room was fully painted. Reality? It’s only a square above the bed that’s painted.
The color on the wall is “Baby Turtle” by Benjamin Moore. Thoughts? My first thought was, “It’s got too much yellow tone in it”. Then it started to dry. So it got a little bit darker. And now I think I see Pee Soup…or better, it becomes the color “Baby Sh*t Green“!
So this color is out the door…and onto the next. Thank goodness for sample paint jars! I’m frustrated, but at least I know I can change it.
Do I just lean towards a lighter color like I originally liked? Or do I want a warmer color? Can’t there be a light color that also warms? Man, I wish I was better at this interior decorating stuff!
I DO have a red comforter I could use instead. Or…I could use both and just stick with a lighter neutral color. Yes, I think that’s my answer.
I know, I know…I’m starting to drive people nuts while trying to figure out paint colors. Fear not, I’m driving myself nuts too. I think it’s time to close my eyes, point, and pick….ha
ha.
We still haven’t picked out a paint color for our bedroom yet…gee, can’t imagine why! Look at my wall. I wish the sun would come out, so I can look at it in “natural light” already!
A Target adventure for some new lamps is much overdue! Why can’t I just have the sunny natural light in our room like the below room has? It’s not fair. Winter needs to end. Not only does my room need some Vitamin D, but I do too!
Whoa. One Tree Hill returns tonight with it’s 2-hour season premiere! Don’t forget to watch it…here’s a little preview to catch you up on what’s to come, as they fast forward the lives of these high school graduates to 4 years later. I’m excited!
Look at this picture. Doesn’t it make you happy? All the bright and vibrant colors…perfect to look at especially on a cloudy day.
Pure happy. That’s what you’ll find on one of my favorite blogs, An Indian Summer!
With inspirational ideas, pictures with focus mainly from India and Asia, and insight into different cultures, you’ll truly enjoy your viewing experience!
So next time it’s a cloudy, gloomy day, do not fear, An Indian Summer is near! To pick up your senses and leave you feeling calm, like a good cup of coffee. Enjoy!
Now go get your sunshine! Find your sunshine Here!
Now you can really love your coffee, as it’s wearing it’s own corset!
Gives “loving coffee” a whole new meaning, doesn’t it! Too funny. And while different, I can’t deny it…I think it’s adorable!
Look hot & trendy carrying this lovely corset coffee holder by the Etsy shop Jenn Gee! Choose from several different patterns -It is only $12.00! It’s 100% Cotton and washable!
It’s not a deal, it’s a steal! After you’re done with your coffee (and finished undressing it…HA HA!), you can put the corset in your purse and use it your uh, next “coffee date“!
Two VERY exciting weddings coming up May 30th! That of my friends Leeanne & Mike, and also, apparently, that of Carrie Bradshaw it seems! But I don’t want to wait that long, I’m too excited!
How fabulous does “Carrie” look in her gown…though only she could pull off the big blue feather in her hair. Maybe it’s her “something blue“.
So get ready, the “Sex and the City” movie comes out May 30th. Whoa.
So Maybe It’s Not My Color, But A Fresh Idea Nonetheless!
Deciding for our bedroom that I mainly only want one color for my walls, this picture offers a great way to freshen it up a bit! It does so by adding white or a lighter color behind the bed on one wall! I’m liking…do you like?
This picture appears to have some sort of board behind it, but you could easily replicate the look with a little bit of paint!
While I am planning on probably using a neautral color for all the walls in our bedroom, instead of a darker color, I still think this idea might help lighten it up some. We shall see!
As for now, I have to thank Apartment Therapy Chicago again for the great idea! I can’t help it, they’re so inspirational!
Sometimes my mind just floats from one thought to the next, with neither thought having anything to do with the other. One minute I’m thinking about decorating my home, the next minute I’m thinking fashion. I think it’s just because I’m sleepy and my mind is getting ready to dream.
So…why not dream about owning this fabulous dress and these adorable shoes?
I stumbled upon this from a VERY COOL BLOG that all you ladies must check out. It’s fun, it’s frilly, it’s goofy, it’s creative…it’s called Naughty Secretary Club, and you must go read it now.
I’m loving this dress by Lily Allen (yes, the singer) which was posted on the Naughty Secretary Club blog. Unfortunately, her line is only being sold in the U.K. right now. So for the time being, all us American girls can do is just dream of owning it. But keep your eyes peeled because you just never know!
Lily Allen’s line is called, “What Lily Loves”. It’s looking like the website is down right now, but keep checking for it, it’s www.whatlilyloves.com.
Don’t you just love how girly this dress is? Especially paired with those shoes! I’m in! Now dream on.
Ok, so the other day I posted that I needed help picking out paint colors for our bedroom. Here are swatchesfrom my quilt and a picture of our room, which you saw earlier:
And here are ideas I’m leaning towards thanks to www.hgtv.com:

So tell me, out of these 4 pictures, after looking at my quilt colors, which paint color should I use to paint our bedroom? I look forward to hearing your choices! I’m going to try to start painting this weekend, hopefully after getting some feedback from all of you! Thanks everyone, wish me luck!
I know I’m probably way behind on discovering this cool find, but in case you haven’t heard about it, I’m sharing the secret with you now!
Mr. Clean has this amazing thing called the “Magic Eraser“. Whatever…I heard about it before but never believed it’s abilities until I saw for myself. It’s true, it is magic!
I discovered it at my mother-in-law’s house while visiting. She introduced me to it, said it was amazing and informed me that I needed to try it. She showed me a white dish she’d had for years, but could never get the stains out of. Until she met Mr. Clean with his Magic Eraser! She showed me, and it’s true. It worked! It got the stains out of the dish!
So I had to invest in one. I now had to try it in my home! I took it to my kitchen counters, which had a few red wine and coffee stains. Not bad…it got the stains out! Then I tried it on my stove top. Sure enough, all the baked-on grease was gone within a few scrubs. Awesome. This thing rocks! I now feel like I have new kitchen counters and a new stove! Too cool. I’ve never enjoyed cleaning so much! So if you haven’t yet, try it out…and fall in love.
Learn more about the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser at www.mrclean.com!
Imagine getting married at night. You’ve got the stars in the sky watching over you, and candlelight everywhere…picture it. Such a lovely, peaceful thought, isn’t it?
I love these photos I found on the blog Frolic. Imagine walking up the steps to your Church or reception site, with candlelight everywhere. Or luminaries. Absolutely beautiful! Check out these other pictures from the Frolic blog, using luminaries…
Or, why not try hanging luminaries? They are so easy to make, and really add to the ambiance!
To find out how to make these hanging luminaries, check out this Martha Stewart article. All you’ll need are some Christmas lights, paper bags and ribbon! Have fun!
Help Needed In The Bedroom! Ha ha…DECOR Help, Sillies!
Ok, so now I’m on a mission. In the last post, I talked about ideas on how to cover our ugly double mirrored closets. But at the end of that post, I came to the realization that I can’t even do that until we paint. Riiiiight.
So here is a picture of our quilt that my grandma made (thank you Nini!). I love it. We want to use this quilt.
So fine. Get me motivated to paint. Help me pick out paint colors! I am currently renting, so while the landlord is allowing us to paint whatever color we wish, I prefer to keep major colors to a minimum, as I’ll end up having to paint the walls back to a neutral color when we move someday. But we just moved in, so let’s paint!!!
We have a beautiful wooden bedroom set (thank you Mom!!!) from Crate & Barrel which is a dark chocolate color. It is a very clean, modern set, and I love it.
Right now we’re stuck with brown carpet. While brown works for some people, it’s not my favorite color…but hey, it’s what we have to work with, so we’ll deal. At least it’s brand new carpeting!
Soooo on those notes, what do I do? My husband and I want a bedroom that feels comfortable to be in…whether it’s day or night. A room that feels comfy/cozy and relaxed to be in. One where I can light my candles, chill or read a book. A room that I’m proud to show in a tour of our new place. Not one where I close the door.
Right now, We have in our room the bed, a small bookcase, a six-drawer dresser, and a nightstand. Oh, and a lamp. Even a black leather loveseat from Ikea (which doesn’t really match…we had no where else to put it but want to make use of it somehow).
The bed is currently facing the window. The door to the room is on the right side, along with the double closets. To the left of the door is the bed, to the left of the bed is the night stand and lamp, then on the left wall is the dresser, along with the chair. Across from the bed is the big window, and to the right of the window (looking at it when you enter the room) is the small bookcase. So any ideas on how to fix up this room, along with paint ideas, would be SO greatly appreciated!!!
Recently we’ve been trying to figure out how to cover the uglydouble mirrors in our bedroom. We want to decorate our bedroom to make it comfy, cozy and make it ours.
So while admiring the blog Apartment Therapy Chicago, I came across this lovely idea! Apparently we were not the only people with ugly double mirrors to cover! The article was posted as an answer to the same problem another reader was having.
Check out what they did and how, using drop cloth curtains. Also, take a look at this eye candy creation, using Marimekko tablecloths. I’m now officially on the hunt for my own drop cloth curtain fabric…wish me luck!
As for now, the bedroom remains incomplete. Because before we can search for fabric, we need to paint! Which brings me to a whole other issue in itself. The question is: WHAT color paint? Ha ha…stay tuned my fine feathered friends!
Oh, to get married in Chicago…there are so many fabulous places in the city! Even in the suburbs of Chicago. Chicago just rocks.
There are several amazing photo opportunities that the city has to offer. And of course you’ve got all the beautiful architecture, old Churches, and top-of-the-notch hotels, parks, gardens, beaches and other venues. Such beautiful places to marry at, dripping with history, fun and intrigue. I’m in love.

Ever find a look you love, but are afraid to try it? It’s the story of my life. I’m not too much of a trendy person, I normally like to stick with the classics and with what looks good and feels comfortable. Sometimes trends can be fun to try, but often I find myself not daring enough.
Which brings me to this picture, found in the December 2007 issue of Self Magazine. I simply adore how fun and comfy she looks. Would I ever dare to wear a turtleneck under a dress though? Or better yet, tights with open-toed heels? See, what sometimes looks good in magazines or on the runway can not always be done in real life. Or can it?
The magazine page with the picture talks about how to “Dare to try shapes, colors and details you’ve always thought weren’t quite you. You might discover a new personal style”. So, on that note, maybe I’ll add that to my New Years resolution list. “Dare to try” new things. Maybe even new styles. Maybe I’ll dare to make my own style! Do you dare?
Before we got married, I so badly wanted to give my husband a guitar as his wedding gift. I had it all planned out. So I saved. And stashed. And hid money all over the house. I was going to buy him his electric guitar!!!
Though it didn’t matter where I put my savings, as I ended up just giving it up to help pay for vendors. Things got tight and I figured less stress was a better gift to my husband than a guitar. I figured I could still get him his guitar down the road. But OH how he would have LOVED this idea!!! It would have been perfect for my plan.
I planned on surprising him with an electric guitar at the wedding. I’d sit in a chair on the dance floor, holding the guitar with my wedding gown and a hot pair of sunglasses to rock the look. Hot. How I wish it could have happened!
When I came across this idea found on www.blushevents.blogspot.com, a bit of nostalgia came over me as I remembered my plan. What a lovely way to present a gift…a guitar with blessings and wishes on it from all the wedding guests! Who needs a guest book when you have a guest book guitar?! Perfect wedding idea for the rock and roll couple!
Photo Credit: 1Grace Ormonde2 We’re not sure, but if you stumble upon it and it’s yours, please let me know so I can credit you! 3 Found at: www.blushevents.blogspot.com.
Anybody that knows me well knows how much I love decorating bottles, frames and things with Modge Podge. Modge Podge what? Modge Podge is a clear glue, sealer and finish that can be used to apply paper or fabric onto objects to leave a beautiful shine. Thanks to my Nini (grandma) who introduced me to this fabulous stuff!
When I came across THIS post from Bella Dia, I had to share it! She’s created beautiful votive holders using Modge Podge. These votive holders are bright, fun and flirty…sure to cheer up any space! Check out her post to learn how to create these lovely little light seducers in all sorts of colors!
These votive holders would make such a great gift to someone special! Or, how very cool would they be to make as decor for your wedding, in your wedding colors, of course!
Proof that men do have it easier than women. Although, they won’t have it so easy if they’re trying to get through this locked corset. Check out this clip…it hurts just watching! The things we do as women. Amazing.
Just add a few little rhinestones to form your initials, then flaunt those babies! My only suggestion would be to take the size stickers off the bottom, for photo shots.
I am really looking forward to seeing more episodes of the new show on Lifetime, “How To Look Good Naked!“. With Carson Kressley as the host, Lifetime is showing women how to feel and look sexy in their own skin, without dieting. I love it. Because sexy comes in all sizes. It’s all about confidence, a smile, and what you wear.
So get excited, ladies…a new year and a new sexy is about to take over. The show premieres January 4th on Lifetime. Check out this preview!
How do you choose when there are so many beautiful ones out there? You want to get the best flowers, for the best deal, especially if you’re on a tight budget. Flowers can get very expensive if you don’t know how to pick them.
Of course your florist should be able to help you find the best deal. However, you want to go into that appointment with some knowledge to assure you’re not getting ripped off. So what to do?
They have “created a database of flowers that are most commonly used in bridal bouquets and arrangements. Search the flower database by your favorite color, by the season of your wedding, by your region of the country, or even by the color of your bridesmaid’s dress.” They suggest printing out your selections to take with you to the florist appointment. Great idea!
For more tips on picking your flowers, check out THIS article from The Knot!
Got a “crazy” idea? Go for it! It’s YOUR day. Tradition or not.
Ever hear about getting married backwards? We could look to Rebecca Romijn for inspiration, as she and her husband decided to have their honeymoon first, and walk down the aisle later.
She suggests doing it backwards…it allows the couple to relax and enjoy eachother before the big day. After the wedding day, there is no time for post-wedding depression because you hop right back into work to keep you busy! Interesting idea, since after the wedding many brides do feel the sadness of “the planning is over…now what?”. Read her story HERE.
Which brings me to this idea. Talking to one of my good friends the other day, the topic of weddings came up. She mentioned how she thinks it’d be fun to do a backwards wedding. Where you have the reception first, and then in front of everyone, have the ceremony in the middle of the reception.
What a creative and original idea! Not only would it help chill the nerves of a possibley nervous couple, but it could also allow for everyone to see the couple get married. Ever been to a wedding where many miss the ceremony but somehow manage to make it to the reception? No missing the vows here!
While this idea seems fun, you would have to keep it well-planned and organized. Just like any wedding, right? Well, you wouldn’t want the couple wasted while saying “I Do”. To prevent that, serve dinner and limited wine or champagne before the ceremony. Then afterwards, re-open the full bar and party on. What are your thoughts? Would you ever dare to be different and have a backwards wedding?
