Matron of Honor Speech Time!

Posted in Weddings at 1:55 pm by Jaime

“Foooocus….Focus!”

So the wedding day of my best friend and her fiance is nearing quickly!  Only 4 more days after today and she will be walking down the aisle to marry “The One”!  I have been working really hard on all of the pre-wedding parties and helping her with wedding details, but now it’s time to write  a speech.

Planning I’m great at, I enjoy it and thrive on it.  Speeches, however, are not my specialty.  I can write, but whenever I do it turns into a novel.  Like planning, I’m big into details.  I really should just write a book one day!  For the wedding, though, it has to be short, to the point, and sweet.  From the heart, something original, something meaningful.  My goal?  Tears of happiness!

So here I sit pondering what I am going to say.  I keep writing words down and scratching them out.  I haven’t written a speech since high school, and even then I had at least 3 minutes to talk!  The bride promised me whatever I say or however long it is will be fine, but I know myself too well…so I really want to focus on keeping it short.

Wish me luck!!!  Maybe I will post it up here after I’m finished writing it.  Until then, say a prayer I write a great speech, that I don’t get too emotional, and that I don’t mess it up.  It has to be great, knowing how great this couple is makes me believe the speech will be great, since it will be about them.  I just need to find the words.  Here we go!  Oh words!!!!  Where are you?

Giving Into Marriage…

Posted in Gift Ideas, Home Decor at 4:53 pm by Jaime

 Wedding Gift Idea~

Wondering what to give to my friends for their wedding, I came across this idea.  Something to hang either above their bed, or anywhere in their home…happy marriage reminders!  In an earlier post, I wanted to do something with the phrases, “Never Forget To Kiss Eachother Goodnight”, and also “All Because Two People Fell In Love”.

Now I come across this hand-made picture, and it inspires me even more.  It’s plain and simple, but sometimes in marriage reminders need to be just that: plain and simple!  While I will not choose this exact design or color scheme, I might just make my own little wall art for them using this as inspiration.

A Must Read Wedding Blog!

Posted in That's Funny!, Video, Weddings at 11:22 pm by Jaime

Check Out This Site:  www.youmaynowkisstheblog.com

A funny and fabulous wedding blog created by a truthful bride, who shares with us all the ups and downs of planning her wedding.  She includes cartoons and videos to express her “bridezilla” feelings, and it’s simply hilarious!   The even funnier thing is that I can actually relate to it.  After my husband proposed, I became wedding obsessed.

Want to see me?  Her reaction to the groom’s proposal WAS my reaction to my husband’s proposal.  Which, if you knew me then, you’ll be on the floor laughing in no time!  Enjoy!

The Sun Spa ~ A Well Deserved Treat!

Posted in Beauty, Style/Fashion at 3:41 pm by Jaime

Must See & Do: The Sun Spa in Lemont, IL. www.lemontsunspa.com

Those who know me know how pale I am.  Yes, go ahead, call me Casper the friendly ghost, it’s not like I haven’t heard it before!  Today, however, I went with my friend to check out a tanning salon that my other friend opened!

My friend and I ended up getting airbrush tanned…where a girl actually sprays you herself.  This is the first time I’ve ever been airbrushed.  Or really tan, for that matter!  I prefer to stay out of the sun, as we all know how damaging it’s rays can be.  I do however, have a wedding to go to in a week, so the bride and I went together for a nice little treat!

The salon was absolutely beautiful!  We walked in and everything was very clean, neat and organized.  The staff was very professional and really knew their product.  I was a bit nervous at first, as I did not want tan lines on top…but the girl who sprayed us was great.  She made us feel so comfortable, without any worries or embarrassment.  She did an excellent job, too!  No streaks, no orange color…it’s very natural looking.  I’ve already gotten tons of compliments on my airbrushed tan!  It’s possible I might officially be hooked!

The Sun Spa specializes in airbrush tanning, which is becoming one of the hottest trends!  Their airbrushing process ensures your body is sprayed evenly, doesn’t discolor your hair or nails, and can be customized to show definition in your body. Best of all, it does NOT  turn your skin orange like the usual spray tan machines do.

Get your whole body done or just the parts you want.  This is the same process as seen on the hit TV show “Sunset Tan” on E.  The Sun Spa is a great way to get the color you want for a wedding, special occasion, or just to look tan.  Best of all, it is totally UV FREE!  Not only that, it’s totally affordable!

If you decide on a different tanning method, they have wonderful high quality brand new beds and stand up machines.  No matter what you choose, you’re going to look fabulous once you leave The Sun Spa!  They also have a room where you can make an appointment and get a relaxing, well deserved massage!  Check it out.  And walk out refreshed.

Stormy Weather! 8-23-07

Posted in Photography at 10:49 am by Jaime

The storm came up on us so quickly I tried to drive away from it but did not have time, so I parked my car and ran into Best Buy to take cover…not the best place, but this storm gave me no choice!  The tornado warnings were going off, it was getting really dark out, and soon enough, the shopping carts were being driven by wind in the parking lot, people’s umbrellas were turned inside out, horizontal rain was flying everywhere!

Storms are exciting, yet terrifying to me when they get bad.  As I took cover inside the store, I prayed while shaking.  I tried calling my sister and husband to make sure they took cover, but could not get ahold of anyone, as the phone service was out everywhere.  I know not to mess with Mother Nature, but I do enjoy taking pictures of her!  Look at this storm front coming in….this was the first storm.  Around 3pm.

After the first storm, I drove north to try to go to my sister’s house.  Traffic was so terrible, all the lights were out from the storm that had just passed.  So instead of being stuck in traffic, I waited out rush hour inside of Target.  Sure enough, a new storm was brewing…so I went outside before it hit and took some more pictures….these were from the second storm, that lasted forever!

I freak myself out wondering if any of the clouds I saw were funnel clouds.  It got very green and black outside.

When I said it got black outside, it got BLACK!  As if it were midnight.  Keep in mind, these pictures were taken about 6:30pm-7pm-ish.  I lost track of time, it was such a long lasting storm!  The picture below, well, that is NOT the sunset.

In this picture, below, I can’t help but wonder if that was a really large funnel cloud, or just a really large cloud….what do you think?

Target had a great storm plan.  They kept in touch with the local police department, and were ready to shove us all into a reinforced storm hall in the back of the store.

And finally, HERE is your sunset.  Absolutely beautiful…I wish I was a better photographer and new how to capture these pictures better, but I tried my best!

Creative idea for events: Instant Photo Guest Book ~ www.theknot.com

An idea I might use for my friend’s upcoming bachelorette party next week!

So as my friend’s wedding quickly nears, I’ve been thinking of fun and creative things I can do for her.  Although she already has a guest book for her wedding, I thought this idea would be fun for the bachelorette party we’re throwing her as well!

I am thinking of maybe taking everyone’s pictures as they are in action at the bachelorette party.  Whether they are drinking, dancing, doing something goofy,  smiling with the bride, eating cake, giving a gag gift.  All those great moments then autographed by the stars themselves for a truly memorable gift to the bride!

For $59.95 you can purchase one at www.theknot.com, which includes archival pages that feature a custom-cut mat that perfectly frames instant photos, with plenty of space for best wishes!  You can also personalize it for an extra $6.00, with the bride and groom’s name.

Or, you can create your own for a whole lot less!   Purchase a regular scrapbook and use scrapbooking corners for the pictures, found at most scrapbooking stores.  Then decorate and personalize the book with fun paper and paint markers, ribbon, and lots of other pretty little things!  I better get cooking, before I run out of time!!!

Thanks, Meter Maid. Thanks.

Posted in Weddings at 7:58 pm by Jaime

Just tell me why…please.  Just why?

This post comes out of frustration.  Meter maids.  I dislike them very much.  They give me tickets even when I’m not even parked.  I never thought that was possible, but yes, it has happened to me.  I have receipts to prove that I was not parked outside at the time noted on my lovely ticket.  So WHY DID I GET A TICKET???  Because meter maids are bored.   And mean.  And stupid.  Yes, I’m angry.  This is rediculous.  Can’t a girl ever catch a break???

That’s all for now…just had to vent.   I’m not going to let this continue to upset me.   But I am ready to start chalking the crap out of every meter maid I see near my car.   Ok ok…speaking out of anger again…lol maybe I need some tea and honey to relax….and I promise the next post will be more cheerful! :)

My Digital Camera…

Konica Minolta Dimage Z6 with 6.0 megapixels:

My first digital camera!  Now if someone could just teach me some tricks and show me the ropes, I’d be good to go!  As for now, it stays on “Auto”, I press a button, and hope it comes out nice.  But I want to learn more!!!

My husband’s parents got us this camera for Christmas last year, and ever since I have been in love with it.  It goes everywhere with me, almost like a silky blanky!   While trying to learn all of the features, I am constantly taking pictures.   It has really peaked my interest in photography!

Here is one more picture I have taken, pretty simple, but pretty beautiful!  Flowers are easy, I’m sure, but hey, it’s a start!  I love how vibrant the color is!

Another Hair Idea For Upcoming Wedding!

Posted in Beauty at 6:46 am by Jaime

This style might work well for me, as I have very thin, fine hair…which supposedly this works well for!  What do you think?

image and article from www.theknot.com

While a center-parted style may look severe, a side part can flatter most faces. Add a chic chignon and play up the jewels for a style that is timeless and sophisticated. Whether you wear your tresses up or down, the key is to create a little lift first. “Apply mousse to towel-dried hair and blow-dry upside down to lift your locks at the root,” directs celebrity stylist Brian Magallones. His pick: Garnier Fructis XXL Volume Thickening Mousse $3, Ulta.com. If you pull your hair back, “keep it soft with pieces hanging in the front to frame your face. This style is ideal for fine, straight hair.” -The Knot

Think Pink!

Posted in Weddings at 9:55 pm by Jaime

THINK PINK! - A bachelorette party planning post! (Try saying that 10 times!)

-Something frilly, something sweet, something girly to knock her off her feet!

Only about one week left before my friend’s bachelorette party, and it’s time to start thinking about how to decorate!  We’re “thinking pink” of course, so figured I’d post some ideas up that work around that theme.  I’m thinking pink with cupcakes, cosmos, flowers, table decor, and whatever else I can find!

I simply just love the chair cover designs in this picture below…and the cookies too!  How creative.  And of course, how pink!

Maybe a few pink feather boas…to string along shelves or stair rails perhaps…and maybe some pink candles to float in a glass bowl around the tables…and fill some vases with some hot pink flowers

I also like the idea of posting old pictures of my friend and her girlfriends…all around, since it is supposedly one of her “last nights out with the girls”…hmm.

My journey continues in the findings of think pink…so I now add even more ideas!  Found on a favorite blog called Junebug Weddings, I am really enjoying these ideas as well!  My friend’s wedding colors are wine/burgandy/pink, so I think the cherry favors would be just adorable to have set out for the bachelorette party!  I’m also loving the idea of giving her wine/burgundy lingerie as her bachelorette party gift.  Oh the inspiration!!!

Time to toast?  Why not grab some Sofia Mini Blanc De Blancs, a 4-pack for only $15.00!  It’s perfect for bachelorette parties or bridal showers!

Today, Meet Yesterday!

Posted in Style/Fashion at 6:18 am by Jaime

Trying to keep up with today’s fashion trends but finding it to be a struggle coming up with all the dough to do so?  No problem…just visit your local antique shop!

While at the antique shop today, not only did I find very cool hats, but I also found this little table…along with an article on display from a recent fashion magazine and some great jewelry! Find things you love at antique stores or resale shops.  For way less than you would expect in a regular store…save money…very cool.

It truly is a great vintage look…I am LOVING this necklace!

In Love With Vintage Hats!

Posted in Style/Fashion at 8:42 pm by Jaime

Yesterday I was at this antique shop just browsing around.  I thought I would give it a chance since it had been forever since I’d shopped at one.  Just looking, of course, but how fun it was!  While some of the vintage items were boring, others were quite lovely!

Thanks to this antique shop, I now know where to go in case I ever need a syrup container from an old pancake house!   But who needs syrup when you can get your very own saucy 40’s style women’s hat…complete with veil and flower!   I wonder, why the veil?  Was it to be worn by widows?  Or brides?  Or was a front veil on a hat just a stylish thing back then?

I loved looking at these items, because it made me think about style, how it was then, how it is now, and how times repeat themselves.  Sure, we don’t wear those crazy hats around today, but I bet you still see them on the runways.  And who knows, maybe they will come back in style again someday!

I am thinking about purchasing one lovely 40’s style hat just for myself.  For just $5, I could own my very own vintage hat!  Sure, you won’t find me walking down State Street with it on, I’m not that brave!  However, I wouldn’t mind owning a crazy hat just to look at and admire!  I’d sit and wonder who it once belonged to, what their life was like, especially being from the 1940’s!  And maybe I’d even wear it out for Halloween.   Though I don’t know, some of those suckers are a little too crazy!

Love Of Photography v.s. Love Of Technology

Posted in Photography at 5:20 pm by Jaime

A picture of the moon I took while standing in my aunt and uncle’s backyard one night…

I love pictures.  I love art.  I love being creative.  So one would think I would love photography, right?  Well, I love looking at it, and I would love creating it, however I’m lost when it comes to technology in cameras.

I took a photography class in high school, but the only pictures I took for homework were the ones of my feet in the hallway right before class because I’d decide the night before to go out with friends instead of going to the park to take cool pictures.  So of course the pictures I’d develope in class were far from interesting.  Which made it boring.  So did I pay attention in class?  Of course not…not only because I didn’t do the homework, but also because I had a cheap 35 mm camera, whereas the rest of the class owned all these fancy high tech ones.  This was of course, before digital cameras became so popular.

Now that I’m older and actually interested in how to take cool pictures, I have no idea where to start!  I read all these blogs on “how-to” but the terminology scares me away…as I have no idea what a “shutter speed” even is or if my camera even has that function.  My camera has these switches on it: P, A, S, M, Auto, then some icon pictures.  Can you guess my favorite switch?  Yep, it’s “Auto”.  Don’t ask me what the others mean.

My husband’s parents got us a Konica Minolta Dimage Z6 for Christmas last year.  I have absolutely loved taking pictures with it!  I still, however have a hard time knowing what all the functions on it are.  And I’m sad to say the directions on how to use it are in storage from when we moved.  So now I’m stuck being confused for a while.  Unless, of course, I can find instructions online, which is what I’m about to research.  Wish me luck!

My Husband’s Very Happy Birthday!

Posted in Photography at 6:31 pm by Jaime

For Steve’s 31st birthday, our friends from Omaha came to town to visit, and took us out for a night on the town!   Here’s a pic of Steve and 6 of his friends starting the night out.  This was one of my favorite pictures I took.  While I’m not a great photographer by any means, I think it came out pretty good!  Chicago.  What a beautiful city!   Even though we’re from here, I still look at it in awe like a tourist!

We had met our friends who were staying at The Palmer House Hotel in Chicago, Tuesday night.  The night turned out better than I had planned, we truly had a great time!  First we went to “Stone Lotus Lounge”, then finished the night off on Rush and Division at “Bootleggers” and “The Original Mother’s”.   His best friend Dan even came out later to hang out with us, that really meant a lot to Steve.

My husband had a great time, we all did…and I got to do a little dancing which I haven’t done in forever!  Though now that I’m older, I remember why I don’t go out like that anymore…the next day I was just a TAD little exhausted.   Staying out ’till 5am isn’t as easy as it used to be.  Next time I think we’ll make it an earlier night.

Even though it was a late night, we had fun nonetheless, and so did the little Omaha kiddies, so it was well worth it!  I’m just glad my husband had a good time…he’s had a rough year this year, so he needed to have some fun!   Hopefully being 31yrs. old will be a better age for him and a better year all together!  Happy birthday babers!!!

Family

Posted in Weddings at 7:29 am by Jaime

Gems, Stars, Saints, and Angels.  All among my family!

Bud Vases found at Redenvelope.com

Tonight was my cousin’s going away party, as he’s going away to college later this week.  Every family get together is always a joy to go to, it’s always so nice to catch up with all of your relatives…even if just for a few hours, it’s time well spent.

Lives get so busy and hectic sometimes that it’s almost too easy to not get together enough.  But life is short, so we need to get together more, we need our families and friends, they keep us grounded, sane, and best of all, loved.

My husband and I have had a roller coaster of a year this past year, and thanks to our family, things are starting to slowly but truly look up.  Thank God for my husband too, I married an amazing, patient and loving man.  But I’ll brag about him in another post…lol.

Sitting out on the front porch with my mom and my aunts, girl talk was great.  Each of them are unique and special in their own little ways.  One aunt has been my best friend and like a second mother to me my entire life…always kind, loving, generous and supportive.   One aunt a helpful, loving and lending hand, and the other aunt a friendly, inspiring, soulful and creative spirit.  And of course then there is my mom, who has sacrificed everything she’s ever had for my sisters and I.  I owe her my life.

All of them, whether alone or combined, make the perfect blessing.  I hit the jackpot when I was born into this family.  Not only are my aunts and my mom amazing, but so is the rest of my family.  We’re all so very close, and it’s a great feeling knowing that no matter what, we’ll always have family.  We are indeed, truly blessed!

Hair can be hairy…

Posted in Beauty at 10:35 am by Jaime

I was honored and so excited when my best friend picked me to be one of her maids of honor for her wedding!  Now that the wedding is nearing quickly, it’s time to start thinking about how I want to do my hair.  She’s asking her girls to wear their hair up.   Picking out hair dos can get hairy.   Here are some ideas I’ve found so far!  Only problem is my hair is very thin…and while it’s long, it might be too thin to sport some of these updo’s.  And hair extentions cost way too much, so can’t they just “foof it up” some for me???

Anne Hathaway

For Anne Hathaway’s Hair:

  • Begin by parting hair to the side. Then apply Volume Spray to the roots for a full blow dry using a classic brush like one shown above.

  • Once hair is blown-dry with lots of body, reshape the side part again to really accentuate it.

  • Next, pull hair back into a modern chignon and fasten to the side with several hair pins. Keep the look soft and sexy with lots of movement.

  • Lastly, finish with hairspray for a light hold with lots of shine. Fabulous!

Tonight I finally downloaded the link my husband’s Dad sent to me for Microsoft Home Office, and now I no longer have to deal with the dino-age old Microsoft Works Word Processor program I was dealing with before. :)  I happily re-made my friend’s bachelorette party invitations on the new program, so now I can maybe finally print it out at Kinkos, as long as this new program is compatible with their computers there!  They’re just too cute, it has to work!  Wish me luck!

    Good Reads…

Posted in Gift Ideas at 6:46 am by Jaime

    A must read!:

“90 Minutes In Heaven” - by Don Piper

    I hear it's a good book!

This book caught my eye while in Border’s Bookstore today.  Ever have a day where the sun is shining and everything in your heart is calm and peaceful for some reason?  That was my day today…especially after I read a little of this book over coffee before I bought it.  Just skimmed the pages, but it seemed interesting, so I was willing to give it a shot.  And I’m glad I did!

Some may be skeptical, but I believe we all see a little bit of heaven  through our daily lives…or ideas of what it might be.  And if this guy really was there, then that’s pretty neat in itself!  Even if he wasn’t, we’ll never know…but his story is so inspiring.  This man used to be a skeptic himself, but says he KNOWS for a fact he went to Heaven.  Whether or not we choose to believe it is our decision, but for himself, at least he knows.  This book will help those believers find peace, and non-believers open their minds to what they might not have ever given a chance otherwise.

Besides, I have my Faith…and I Believe in God, so I surely don’t doubt others that may have had experiences in miracles or things like that.  God has kept me grounded through life.  He’s gotten me through life.  He’s always with me, and it’s a comfort I can’t explain.

If you don’t have Faith in something, try learning…give Faith a try…it’ll lift loads off your back and help you find peace, even when you think it’s the worst day of your life, you’ll find peace through Faith.  For me, it’s through God.  So whether you find your peace through God, or Buddha or whatever…if it gives you peace and makes you a good person, it’s good.  God Bless!!!

Unique Chicago Find: “Cosmos Beauty Bar” in Glen Ellyn, IL!

Posted in Beauty at 4:48 am by Jaime

Cosmos Beauty Bar - 526 Duane St., Glen Ellyn, IL. 60137 (630) 790-0713

Tonight I traveled all over Oakbrook, Downers Grove, Lombard, and Glen Ellyn, in search of the perfect place to have my friend’s bachelorette party dinner.    Save the best for last they say, and that’s exactly what happened tonight!

On my way to a restaurant in Glen Ellyn, I came across this unique little shop/bar.  I had to do a double take, as in the window I saw both pedicure chairs and manicure tables, along with a full bar decorated with martini glasses!  So, is it a beauty salon or a bar?

Confused and a tad intrigued, I opened the door.  Surely the martini glasses were for bubble bath salts or something, right?  Aaaah, my friend, I was wrong.  This salon actually allows you to not only get yourself completely pampered, but you get to enjoy a cocktail with their full bar while doing so!  What a concept!!!

Open only 9 months, it is a fairly new place, but I’m sure business is as good as they say it is, as there’s nothing in town like it!  They cater to individuals, or private parties, anything from birthday parties to bachelorette parties!  You can even bring 8 of your girls in for 2 hours and have the salon/bar all to your very own selves!

They allow you, for parties, to bring in whatever food and decorations you’d like, all for only a small deposit, which you get back the day of the party!  The prices are affordable and competative, which I was surprised, being how adorable and unique this place is.  The women there are so very friendly, which was refreshing for a change compared to other places in the same town.

So check it out, it’s a must!  And don’t forget to check out their fabulous martini list!!!  It’s called “Cosmos Beauty Bar” in Glen Ellyn, just right downtown on Main Street.  Well worth the drive, as when you leave you’ll feel pampered and chilled!  As long as you find a safe ride home, of course!  Check out some of my pictures I took while there…just too adorable to resist, isn’t it!?

Fruit or Vegetable? Now that is the question!

Posted in Food & Drink at 3:33 pm by Jaime

Did your mom ever tell you, “Finish your vegetables, honey!”  Now wouldn’t it be funny to look back and wonder what she would have done if you had challenged her on her knowledge of the fact that “But mom, those aren’t vegetables!!!”  I would have been grounded for months…lol.  Now let’s learn!

     Fruiteggies...ha ha

This weekend I had the pleasure of a phone call from my dearest cousin and best friend Jill.  She was having a discussion with her husband about how a tomato is a fruit, not a vegetable, and then we got onto the topic of other so-called vegetables, that technically are fruit.  How do you know?  I mean, is everything with seeds considered a fruit?  So I researched this deep thought of hers, and here is what I came up with.

    Fruit!

So what about the other ones?  Like pumpkins, cucumbers, green beans, etc?

Here is what Science Bob has to say about this question: Is a tomato a fruit or a vegetable? (from www.vegetablegardens.suite101.com,)

Answer: “To really figure out if a tomato is a fruit or vegetable, you need to know what makes a fruit a fruit, and a vegetable a vegetable. The big question to ask is, DOES IT HAVE SEEDS?

If the answer is yes, then technically, you have a FRUIT. This, of course, makes your tomato a fruit. It also makes cucumbers, squash, green beans and walnuts all fruits as well.”  By these definitions, a pumpkin is a fruit, botanically speaking. So are squash and zucchini.

Modern society commonly refers to all these fruits as vegetables:

    • Pumpkin
    • Squash
    • Tomato
    • Cucumbers
    • Green beans
    • Capsicum peppers
    • Bell peppers

    Pumpkin with seeds

Did you know The United States Supreme Court even got into this discussion and gave a legal verdict on whether or not a  tomato should be classified as a vegetable or a fruit. They decided in Nix versus Hedden, 1883, that a tomato is a vegetable, even though it is a botanical fruit.

So, to answer your question, Jill, a Jalapeno is a fruit.  Jury adjourned!  NOW….the REAL trick question:  What about a “seedless watermelon?” ha ha To be continued….

So this Saturday we hosted a bridal shower for one of my very best friends, who I’ve been friends with for 10 years.  I worked so hard on trying to make it look nice, and I think it ended up being a hit!  We received many compliments on the decorations and everything.  It did turn out nice…people even were able to sit outside since it didn’t end up raining until later.  Great for us, uh, “bad rebellious smokers”…as some view us I’m sure.

Anyhow, posting a few pictures here.  Now it’s time to plan the bachelorette party which is in 3 weeks and next her baby shower after that!  Good times, good times!  I’m in my own personal planning heaven right now….hope you enjoy the pics!  I meant to make more hanging pom-poms, however ran out of time.  Oh well, lesson learned! lol

My very creative aunt inspired me to start my own blog, so I’m all in!  This will be the perfect place for me to use as a creative outlet…so I look forward to sharing with you lots of fun ideas,  inspiring projects, and updates with pictures on all the showers, weddings and other events I’m planning!  With so many lovely blogs out there, hopefully I can add a little inspiration as well.  Dreams, thoughts, ideas, pictures, here we go!  To those who stay true to themselves, to the creatives, to the dreamers…from one herself…love!

It won’t be raining men or cats and dogs!

It’s raining men?  It’s raining cats and dogs?  Not this weekend!!!   This weekend’s forecast is only bringing one kind of shower…a bridal shower (ok fine, maybe a 40% chance of rain drops too - later in the evening…lol.)  As I finish up the final touches for my best friend’s bridal shower I sit here and pray she will have a good time and be pleased with the turn out.

I have been obsessing all week long on planning and decorating this shower.  Because it’s my best friend, Laura, who I’ve been friends with for 10 years.  She’s stood up for 5 of our weddings, and now she’s asked me to be a Matron of Honor in hers.  Oh, the honor!!!  So I planned.  And planned.  And planned like you just can’t plan anymore…(boogie!).  And now it’s almost time to see the final results of my hard work and soul.

So to give you an idea as to what I’m going for, here’s a few pictures.    Going with the “Something Blue” theme.  White flowers on the tables, white “pom-poms” that will hang above the tables, a part from the Bible that reads, “Love is Patient, love is kind….”, rolled up in a tiny piece of paper that is then held together by a fake silver diamond ring, little blue umbrellas for the drinks, blue wine glasses, blue and white floral napkins, blue and white tablecloths, I’ve created and printed out the shower games, etc.  So much more, but you’ll just have to wait and see!  I’ll post pictures from the shower as soon as I can.  Can’t wait to show you!!!  For now, take a look at my inspiration!

Along with the decor, we will also have favors, games (How Well Do You Know The Bride and Bridal Bingo), prizes, food, champagne mimosas and lots of fun!  I’m also going to draw with white chalk pretty flowers and bridal sayings along the driveway and sidewalk, to get the guests excited before they even walk into the house!  Wish me luck!  And have a great weekend!
